We are fortunate at Keysborough Veterinary Practice to have access to an ultrasound machine, and access to specialists.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that allows us to image organs in the chest and abdomen where radiographs will not give us enough information. While pets are generally not anaesthetised for this procedure, they have their fur clipped as ultrasound machines cannot see through fur.
Depending on the issue your pet has we may recommend an ultrasound in-house by one of our resident vets, or we may elect to contact a specialist. This is assessed on a case by case basis.
We also commonly use ultrasound to diagnose early pregnancy in pets. Please contact us for further information.
